Yes…I know this has been shared far and wide lately. But this video just blows my mind in so many different ways.

In solidarity with the folks at UC Davis, I applaud you. For your courageous display of non-violence, and for your strength in numbers as a united front. I can’t help but think that the police looked like they were being corralled- not to place too much sympathy with the ones who sprayed the students, but it was a friendly reminder that they too are victim to the whole system- and as they backed down I hoped that served as an unveiling to their eyes that the students are to be protected from the unjust system, and not vice versa.

The institution of education is just one slice of the pie when it comes to corruption in all of this. Think pharmaceuticals, medical field, food industry, banks- it seeps into everything!

It’s funny but my best example draws from the NBA lockout. My friend posted on facebook “why don’t the fans have a say in this?! they’re the ones investing their time, their money and losing out on the season as the owners and players argue about millions of dollars”

…folks, the NBA lockout is a microcosm for the occupy movement. Just saying.

But I digress. The point is- the movement (as it should be handled) is clearly demonstrated in this video. Though the abundance of cameras tripped me out- here is a modern day event in a movement that has been well modeled after MLK and Ghandi (as www.psychologytoday.com said). May we continue to fight for the people, the 99%, in this way, as the aggressor is clear when violence is absent.
